Ok so im playing D3 and this is happening to me constantly.. i cant get anything done because it keeps freezing untill i minimize and i see a baloon that says the AMD display driver has recovered or something like that... rig is in sig... HELP!!

I believe D3 is having issues as of right now. It may not be your card's problem. You might want to Google it or check the BNet forums to read more on it. It's just what I've heard.

yeah there is a beta driver suppose to fix issues.. tried it and didnt help... i have the same problem with SC2 but only after a couple of hours of gameplay... never had the problem while playing MW3 or BF3

Try returning it to stock speeds/voltage and see if it helps any.

well i since have... i should have mentioned i have an HD5450 in my second PCIE slot to display to my top two monitors.. since i installed that card i cannot overclock my 6950

Well, I'm sure you have the latest driver (12.4 released 4/25). It may be a headache, but it's worth trying an uninstall + driversweeper, then fresh install of the driver. I'd try that myself.

Also, what temps are you getting when the card crashes? Do you have MSI Afterburner installed?

I am pretty sure you can't mix cards like that and make them get along. Has to be the same family 6xxx. Its not the driver - it was certified by blizzard to work on all cards 3000 and up. TDRs can be caused be heat, which
could be a cause since you're running 2 cards in your system. Honestly i'd just remove the 5xxx card....

Diablo 3 runs fine on my 7970cf box with catalyst 12.4, i'm level 17 so far.

yes you can mix the cards as long as both cards are supported by the drivers installed and they are not running in crossfire obviously.

as far as the overclocking goes its probably trying to overclock both cards instead of just the 6950.

i think i have pinpointed the problem.. if you have two cards that arent in the same family you cant even have amd overdrive enabled to control fan speed.. which is what i was doing.. since i have disable overdrive completely and turned off manual fan control i havent had a problem... ill keep testing and update with results..

try using afterburner for the fan profiles instead, see if that works for you.

it would appear using afterburner for fan control works fine with no crashing issues..
