AMD DDR4 Memory is out.

So... wait: what does AMD hope to accomplish? Gskill and Kingston already have that speed memory locked down from a pricepoint perspective, and those are both REALLY reputable companies.

Also, is this re-branded patriot memory? Because I had nothing but trouble with the cheap patriot dimms they slapped their sticker on earlier...

Just getting the name out there, at least that was the original purpose. Some people at AMD think that their sales is bound to name recognition.

For the last several years AMD has bulk ordered DRAM for their partners to lower costs. I would guess they had demand for it, or had to book by a certain time to maintain pricing.

Why would there be any demand for AMD PARTNERS though?

They don't have a DDR4 platform until Zen ships.

Oh wait, you mean *partner* as in just another OEM supplying DDR4 for Intel servers :D

Glad you waited for what? Are you telling me you waited for AMD to sell 2133mhz and 2400mhz branded RAM and said fuck GSkill/Corsair?

This portion also made me laugh. (Quoted from Kitguru)

"AMD’s Radeon R7 DDR4 memory modules are not performance champions, but fans of AMD’s Radeon graphics cards and modders make purchase decisions based on design and visual aesthetics, not on performance."

Oh boys.. performance never matters to AMD fans... clearly. They definitely know their audience.

I would imagine the majority of ram they sell goes into Intel boxes.

I do not like Corsair memory because they sell memory that is already overclocked. Never owned GSkill. And if the AMD memory is decent enough I will get it to match the theme of my Zen system.

So take your trolling elsewhere.

Go to the Intel subforum troll.

I was being sarcastic. I don't really have a preference other than speed. Performance sells.

That said, I found it funny that the quote from AMD says that fans aren't always interested in performance and would rather it look good.

You seem a bit torqued. Just keep waiting for Zen. No biggie ;)

edit: quote above was edited by original poster. Either way, I still feel the quote is accurate.

Take my trolling elsewhere? Seriously?

How about link us to some specs of the actual ram and who the manufacturer is as well as what RAM modules will be used. We all know AMD is not making this stuff, they are just rebranding it. Please provide us with some info instead of "Glad I waited (for rebranded cheap RAM that is going to be gouged because it says AMD on it)".

For all you know, you will be buying "Corsair that is already overclocked".

And as an FYI (Ill edit my post), that quote was from the article linked in OP and was NOT from AMD. It was from one of KitGuru's writers (Anton).

Call up the manufacturer and find out.

But until I do that, you will assume that you are receiving some top quality shit that is NOT Corsair/Gskill/Kingston/Patriot/Ect... because AMD put their name on it
