Hey guys, i've got a bit of a problem. My system is running alittle slow and i thought maybe at first it was the memory but than i thought about over clocking it, so i did and it still runs a bit weird. I haven't done any benchmarks or stability testing yet but will shortly.

Here are the specs of the comp and what i have done:

Asus A7V8X-X mobo with all latest bios updates
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
1 stick of 256mb crucial pc2100 memory
1 stick of 128mb crucial pc2100 memory
windows xp

Stock the FSB is 133 and the multiplier is 13.5 i raised the FSB a bit until i couldn't get it to post. Than after doing some reading i saw that it was better to raise/lower the multipler because of the lack of AGP/PCI lock. So long story short i now have the FSB at 190 and the multiplier at 11.

I'm not sure if my memory is syncronous or not but i was wondering if i raise my FSB to higher than 133 (which is what the memory is rated at) will my memory not cooperate?

Is it better to raise/lower the multiplier rather than the FSB?

In general the comp just seems to lag, i mean sometimes i see a delay when i type a URL in or if i'm on aim. I do not have alot of programs up or running in the background, i have no spyware/adware on the comp or any viri. The temp is pretty stable at 50 on load and i plan to get a better than stock heatsink.

I don't recall the bios letting me change latency settings but i will double check. Any help would be great, i know its not the fastest processor in the world but my pIII 2.4ghz with 512mb runs better, and i would think that it wouldn't.

Whats the deal?

Made a mistake on the p3, hehe its a p4 1700, i hardly use it so i forgot.

Since this board was 3 DIMM slots i might just add another 256of pc 2100 i would really like to get DDR400 but than i would have to swap all the sticks out and that is really a waste of money IMHO. Anyone else have any solutions, or do you think this could just be a ram issue? I sware running aol/kazaa and a few web browser's these days with 384mb leads to latency and bottlenecks? Christmas...
