Well known that with video drivers you should uninstall the old before installing the new but what about the catalyst package? [USB, chipset, raid, etc]?

I know they include an unintaller but does the latest package automatically uninstall like realtek sound drivers do?

A relative is getting a white screen once in awhile on his AMD APU system I built for him 2 years ago forcing a reboot.
The drivers have not been updated since as they worked, until now apparently.

For AMD motherboard drivers I just overwrite them with the newest ones on the AMD website. The chipset driver is under the Optional Downloads tab on that page. You can use DDU to remove the video drivers and then reinstall them. When it asks to go into Safe mode allow it.

I don't own an APU, but I'm sure that it works the same way. ;)

The latest are 14.12 omega, possible it auto uninstalls all the chipset drivers first before installing the new ones, if so it would force a reboot just like Realtek does with the HD audio drivers.

The GPU package is 5x the size of the chipset.

Package Includes:
AMD Chipset Drivers
AMD AHCI Driver
AMD USB 3.0 Driver
AMD SB7xx RAID Drivers
AMD SB8xx RAID Drivers
AMD SB9xx RAID Drivers
AMD A-Series APU Chipset RAID Drivers
AMD E-Series APU Chipset RAID Drivers

The system in question is running raid1, hopefully uninstalling/installing new raid drivers does not bork the array.
