AMD has just published the new Catalyst 10.10c Hotfix for all you Radeon owners out there. Grab it if you need it, here is a list of what’s new:

OpenGL 4.1 beta support
Support for the new Morphological Anti-Aliasing feature
Dead Rising 2 - Crossfire profile (Resolves negative scaling)
Performance optimizations for systems with a Radeon HD 6870 and HD 6850
Aliens versus Predator performance enhancements
Star Craft 2 performance enhancements
OpenGL performance enhancements
Crossfire Performance Improvement for: Metro 2033, F1 2011 - (Direct X9 version) and Fallout New Vegas

sweet, I hope it helps with wow, I was playing it great maxed out on my 6850 and all of a sudden it dropped to 8fps and would not go higher, but that could of just been wow since it isn't even half downloaded.

It was my understanding that MLAA was done using DirectCompute 5.0 meaning that at most support would be extended to the 5xxx series.

I doubt the 4xxx will get support atleast anytime soon.

Very true, and is likely the reason why we wouldn't see it supported on 4xxx series.

hey Brent, will you be doing a rereview of AA since MLAA has been added?

thanks :)

i'll confirm there is no MLAA support for 5000's cards. it just doesn't show in in CCC.

SC2 performance enchancements? Anyone's try it out yet?

Seems about the same to me. Btw, I'm using $$$ Twilight Fortress 4v4 as the baseline for my tests, as that map always bogs down my system. Most of all the other maps that I have tried give me very good frame rates. Also, seeing as how these drivers give a boost to Metro performance, I just had to try these drivers out on the game. I haven't played Metro in many months, but when I first played it, I remember getting less than satisfactory frame rates with my 5970. So, after trying these drivers, the frame rates in Metro are actually very impressive now. Not sure if these performance gains are related to these specific drivers (I'm assuming they are, as the notes mention improved Metro performance) or if performance increased from previous drivers, but I am very impressed with Metro's frame rates now on my 5970. What I find odd, though, is that I get approximately the same frame rates with catalyst AI disabled/enabled, which leads me to believe crossfire doesn't really work on the game with these drivers? Assuming they don't work, I am, however, getting substantially better frame rates now, which is very odd.

Yeah, the new drivers totally messed up my SCII exp. I can't see the blue pylon power grid anymore after this patch. Way to go ATi.

Maybe you just need more pylons? :p I still haven't tried sc2, waiting for wow to finish downloading 12gb ftl.

My only serious problem with ATI drivers is frequency switching. My HD5870 runs at 157/300 in idle, which means those damn green dots. I have to run ATI Tray Tools all the time to run it at 300/500 in idle, because since 10.5, it is impossible to have it run at 300/500 via Catalyst OC profile, it ignores the memory part and once you use the OC profile, it runs memory at full speed all the time (1200MHz).

Give it a few hours and someone will hack in MLAA support for 5800 cards just like the 10.10A's.

I see no reason for AMD to not add the MLAA support to the 5000 series cards if they can support it.

The 5XXX series isn't entirely compatible with MLAA. While it does work, and does effect most games, it's proven to not work AS well as it does on the 6800 series, as well as a few graphical anomalies showing up occasionally.

With that in mind, it makes perfect sense for them to withhold the option from the 5xxx series for the time being.

According to afterburner, this DID fix the crossfire not working issue with FO:NV on my 4850X2. Also fixes the alt+tab crash for this game as well. But ATM, my clocks are still messed up. Core 2 never goes under 625. But it does hit the 695 OC clock I have set. On the other hand, core 1 idles properly. But it maxes out at the default 625, not taking any notice to my OC settings.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with them yet. works well with my 5870

Those release notes mention F1 2011! Hell, is that out already... I thought they were still working on the patch for F1 2010? ;)

Sc2 pylon grid is broken...

I found out what a happens, the grid is placed like 10 feet below ground, if you play on a space map the grid can be see under the map in the space. But I am getting alot better frame rates in sc2, I can play with all settings ultra and at 2500x1600 (or what ever it is)

I experienced some jittery playback of 720p WMV videos using Windows Media Player with these drivers on Windows 7 x64. They'd start off playing smoothly then after a few minutes start looking shakey/wobblely, rendering them almost unwatchable.

Uninstalling the WMV Acceleration codec that is installed as part of these drivers fixes it though and it didn't happen in the 10.10a drivers either.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

These hot fix drivers are wierd, because before the folding client would cause the gpu to clock up to 3d speeds, but with the hotfix now my 6850 just stays in 2d clocks while it is folding.

Weird driver issues has been a common problem with the 48XXx2 series since the 10.5 drivers.

In fact, that's why TwL uses a 10.5 base for his 48XX 3P drivers.

I've tested these on two systems. A friend of mine has two 5750's in xfire, and I have the 4850's. His has worked fine in all the driver releases, aside from crappy BC2 performance, which everyone suffers. Mine's been crappy ever since 10.5.

I have a set of Crossfired 5770s, and this made a huge difference in Dead Rising 2 and Fallout:NV. DR2 performance was really disappointing when I first picked up the game, but it's buttery smooth now. F:NV was also choppy as hell with all settings cranked at 1900x1200, but now I don't think I'm dropping any frames.

Is the lastest CAP still the 10.10 from AMD's site? They haven't posted a new one of those have they?

sorry, I was talking about the MLAA

hahaha, who cares, dead game, also a terrible game compared to the old ones

Have you played this game? It got 6-7 out of 10 on most sites, fans of the genre all seem to like it. For the most part gameplay is a decent interpretation of how the different species would fight with each other. It's leaps and bounds better than the old ones.

It's like telling people to stick to Win XP forever. hahahahaha...

:D

Yeah, makes me a sad panda, as my 6850 is out for delivery. Anyone have a copy they'd be willing to share?

Don't use it. It was probably taken down so that they can fix the bugs. Waste my time updated it, not my SC2 is messed up.
