do you think its safe to overclock an Athlon xp mobile to 200x10 with an Abit NF7-S motherboard 1g of corsair 3200 ram and 5 medium rpm fans?

and on a side note how can i check the temperatures of my cpu, and case if i dont have an LCD screen?

im running my 2500+ at 200x10 with a vantec aeroflow1 and 1 side, 1 top fans (not including ps, chipset, video). thats it. under load it hits 41-45 degrees depending on how hot it is in the room.

i could see a 2400+ doing it just as easy.

check the sig.

Motherboard monitor -- google for it
nvidia system utility -- download on Nvidia.com

What are you using to test stability? And for how long?

edit: not knocking, it would just be handy of this info was included with the overclock stats.

edit:See below, sorry, I was referring to phlegm's post.

uh.......... im not, i haven't overclocked yet and i dont know what i'd need to use to check stability.

WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I was just poking around looking for info on the 35w mobile 2400+, I got one coming tomorrow to replace my Barton 2500+ that I've been running 10.5x200 on my NF7-S rev2 w/1Gb cheap Kingston PC3200.

Sounds like it'll be able to do what I'm doing now easy. (Oh, and I got that horking all copper Zalman CPU cooler that you gotta file down one of the brackets on to make it fit an NF7-S rev2....I keep spacing the name, I think 7000CU or some such. )

Thanks, y'all gave me a big grin. :)

Try using the Abit uGuru utility. Something to get your feet wet in overclocking.

hey, if you're refering to me im using prime 95. i had to up to 1.525 because i had an error. ran prime for a long time and am not seeing any errors so i think things are stable.

Some ppl believe in "break in" or "burn in". Its sort of the first 500 miles on the car, it takes time to break in.

Same thing with a proc. Why? I don't know :p

This is the clock frequencies of my XP-M 2400 35W:

1.4 GHz: 1.1v
1.7 GHz: 1.25v
2.0 GHz: 1.425v
2.2 GHz: 1.575v
2.3 GHz: 1.7v
2.4 GHz: 1.8v

You shouldn't have any problem doing what you intend.

NICE. What kind of temps do u get?
At 1.4 GHz after priming untill temps stabilize I have a CPU temp of 54c and case temp of 42c. At 1.6 and 1.2v I reach 63c and 44c.

My case temps are that high cause of the single 1500 rpm exhaust fan located in the PSU.

Idle temps are more sane at 47c and 37c case (1.6 GHz).

Thanks for the chart, I just set her to 1.75 10x200 and said "the hell with it!". ;)

She's running cooler than hell and stable too, I upped her to 11x200 this morning with no ill effects. (Yeah, I do break in new CPUs a bit slowly and I have no clue why....old habits die hard I guess. )
