Hello I have a AMD Athlon(tm) 7850 Dual-Core Processor 2.81GHz and am wanting to overclock it to the most it will go....I know how to overclock as I have had a little play but im not sure on the max setting it will go like voltage and multiplayer ect....Could anyone give me a heads up on what are the max settings please?

I have a Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard.

Thanks, Gizmo...

i have one currently running and the max I was able to get it to was 3ghz and nothing I did would get it past it. i used the multi to o/c it. i have it at stock now due to its role as a kiddie computer.

EDIT: first try to find out how far you can take it on stock volts with only changing the multi.

1.325v is the max from AMD

multiplier has no max, other than where it stops booting, it wont damage it, all you need to worry about is volts

i would assume its ok up to ~1.45v with good cooling, never used that CPU myself though

max voltage is 1.6-1.65v but won't matter since the processor its self will max out well before that.

the m2n-sli deluxe has a max voltage of 1.5v so just set it to 1.5v and raise the multiplier til it's no longer stable/fails p95 or Intel burn test. also cooling makes a big difference, the phenom I's run incredibly hot and are very temp sensitive.

What about the core frequencey? What does that need to be set to....I have it currently on

x15 Multiplyer and 1.4V and my system is sitting at 50oC or sometimes just under, I don't want to blow my CPU up lol. I know the max temp is 72oC that my CPU is ment to handle. My cooler is after market but I am getting new one in the week as I dont't think this is to good...I was just wanting to test and get some information.

Thanks for reply guys.

I just put it to 1.5V like you said and the multiplyer at x15 so it's running at 3.01GHz at idle temp of about 55oC so I take it I do need a new CPU cooler. Is this ok to run at for a couple of weeks? Will it damage the CPU being this hot? Also what about the core frequencey I still not sure about that.

Thanks.

I couldn't get those 7850 past 3Ghz much.

Sell it off and grab a cheapo Athlon II X2. Ran faster and cooler.

Agreed. I'd recommend looking at ebay and getting an Athlon II X3 like I did. I got mine for only $42 used. That was a year ago so I'd imagine you can get them even cheaper now.

I want to do a bio's update so I can get the phenom II x4 940 BE @ 3.4ghz I just need to know what bios version I need as I play Call of Duty Black Ops and need a decent CPU running.

Thanks.
