So I just picked up this chip and tried to pop it into my Asus m3a motherboard. Works great so far. I forgot that this chip wasn't a Black Edition and tried to overclock it in my bios. It worked! It seems my chip has the multipliers unlocked. Do you think it's the chip itself that is unlocked? Or is there another factor that is allowing me to change the multiplier?

According to CPU-Z:
AMD Phenom II X4 945
Stepping 3
Revision RB-C3

Did you actually increase the multiplier or simply play with the bus speeds?

The multiplier is changed. I'm running 13.5 x 250 bus speed. Anything higher and it's not stable as my motherboard only supports 95w processors.

can you change it above 15? because if its a locked chip, it will still let you change it to below 15 i thought.

If I recall correctly, the 945 has a 15x multiplier, not 13x.

yep you are correct.. 13x200 = 2.6 ghz 15x200= 3ghz.. so 13.5x250 = 3.37ghz..

might as well put the multiplier at 15 and change the fsb to 225.. would put your memory at ddr2 850.. and your hypertransport at 2250mhz or 4500HT which is the same as 13.5x250..

Running it at 17.5 x 200 to see if it'd work. Works fine. Until i go into high loads and there's not enough power on the motherboard. But I seem to have access to any multiplier I want.
