The folks over at TPU had an interesting piece of tech dropped off at their office a few day ago. Hadn't seen anything in the AMD section here about it and since I like the review style here, was hoping to see [H] input on the matter. After reading the 25 pages and wondering if some of the charts would load --lol-- I concluded that this dual-gpu build may be the key to stable 60's regardless of what's happening; and I mean for all levels of card. Maybe not all levels of graphics settings, but if a card's built for say "MED-HIGH" settings, then it shouldn't dip under said fps at all. The fact that gfx cards dip at all has always puzzled me because even a card like the GTX690 or the (newest)HD7990 will dip in certain instances. Can't blame the CPU/MEM combo's which on gaming rigs average 4.5Ghz/1.6Ghz respectively. Even a dual core(with decent fsb speeds) can handle gaming @60fps IF manufacturers began implementing dual devices, say one for visuals and one for physics, on gaming class or better gfx cards, would the dipping decrease. In short these thousand dollar cards-from BOTH houses-aren't very impressive $/performance and are they worth their weight in components?

Both runs very close, but I lean to the HD 7990 specially if you are gonna play at Eyefinity resolutions or need GPGPU performance.
 
for the price of a 690/7990 I can get 3x HD 7950...

I went for 2x 7950, about the same performance as 690/7990 but costing 35% less, some people will say that it uses more power, i'm not sure about that...
my system overclocked as you can see on the signature uses 560W tops, when gaming, if I push the core clock to 1.1ghz with more voltage will get around 620W
 
interesting feedbacks-thx! Been trolling the egg and wild beast for months and all I see are new 660's and 650's everywhere. While the thought of a $1k card is laughable(it's not about money as much as common sense) it poses decent waymarking between the "bottom of the barrel" and "top-of-the-line" gpu's showing us how streams/cudas, bus bandwidth, and clock speeds affect our games at each level of DX(from 9 to the most recent). As for power consumption, regardless, if two gfx cards are consuming similar voltages as any single card; even within +-20-50v, im going w.the two. They just offer sytems much more (gfx/applications))processing resources than a single gpu. It's tough to explain without using theoretical examples. I just notice a huge difference especially in multi-display setups.
..........no sign of the HD8xxx's yet? I swear if I order an HD79xx the damn things will pop up the next day! xD
