AMD 6990 ETA

me. I wake up every morning with a boner hoping for any new info or a release date.
 
Ill get one and add it to my 2x 6970 and have Crossfire x4 when Socket 2011 comes out with its sweet 40x PCIX 3.0 lanes.

Meh Bulldozer will bury 2011 anyways so I might go with that instead.
 
Lol, PCIe and PCI-X confusion. I wish they'd gone with something different, like NPCI, just to save this coming up over and over again :p
 
a few articles are reporting that somehow the 6990 is actually larger than the 5970. i guess it's caller? not really sure. no actual dimensions are given out .
 
kinda curious... held back on the 6k series cause I don't feel like buying a second dp adapter so that I can run >1080p on my 2343s

My OCed 5970 is a beast... but if I found buyers for my other cards id hop to a 6990 sure...
 
Yay another card that will run too hot and/or too loud and get half assed support for a little while until the 7**** series comes out and they drop the support ball all together. I can't wait.
 
The sooner the better. That way the 6970's will continue to get cheaper. They are already at $350

Sorry I was comparing to the 4870 X2, never owned a 5970.

I wasn't talking about failure, just the crazy operating temperature and then playing a demanding game and having the fan ramp up to 100% which is just obnoxious.
 
Every day, multiple times a day, I check on [H] for any release info and every day so far I have been disappointed :(


I cant wait till it comes out. I will buy it as soon as they are released.
I only have room for 1 card so I gotta make it count and I have been holding off on a 5970 for over 6 months now since one of my cards died.
Also, im gonna put it under water with its own 240mm rad which should keep noise in check (and hopefully let me OC the shit out of it).

God damn you ATI...

I had two 4870X2s. When they were new, the fan speed only went to 55%, which is very tolerable and not much louder than typical cards are today. 91C load was high, but perfectly fine. Then people moaned and they upped the fan speed to 100% for 80C load to stop the QQ about high temps... :(

Me. I already pre-ordered an EK waterblock for my 6990. :)

I already have a 6970 + EK-waterblock at home, waiting to go Tri-Fire with the 6990. :)
