SUGGESTION: Buy a new case. Problem solved.

Something cheap like

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2337812&Sku=ULT33179

will allow the use of the larger card and provide more room for components.

While I agree that I would buy a new case.. I wouldnt touch that ultra for more then 10 bucks.. Especially since the space gains are minimal.. The COOLER MASTER HAF 912 has room for pretty much any video card as long as your not crammed full of HDD's

I wouldn't even touch the CM912 for free since you can't pack it full of drives and a big video card. At least with the ultra, you can.

Your case is limiting the size of your video card(s) and this isn't a problem that will go away. Invest in a better case, there are many, MANY, cases in all kinds of designs that will fit the 6950 and larger. The 6950 is a performance card so that makes me think you are probably going to be buying another performance card sometime in the future, whether a year, 2 years, whatever, because people like us are going to want to play the newest games. Most likey the cards of the future will have the same issues. Change your case now and be done with this problem.

this. I know it can be a pain in the ass but buy a good case and be done with it for several builds.

I will continue the tradition of not giving you the answer you were looking for, and also recommending a larger (longer) case. The HAF 912 is an incredibly well made case for being the "lowest" on the HAF spectrum. I think its fantastic. There is an assortment of cases you can get though that will do this job, I am just seconding a good recommendation. Not a fanboy of them or anything, I own three Antec cases lol (of them, yes I am a fanboy...except their latest line, gross ugly). But the HAF 912..s a lot of nice features for its price (compared to competition).

I had the same problem with my Acer AM5620 case.
The 6950 was about an inch too long for the bottom hard drive bracket.
I cut the bottom hard drive bracket with tin snips and a hacksaw and now it fits perfectly.

It was easier then moving everything to my old 19" tower case.

wow,

Thank you all for your comments. I am going to look at replacing my case and trying this again thank you all :)

I agree, don't let a case hold you back. The antec 900-two or twelve hundred will last a lifetime.

If only Coolermaster still made the ugly Stackers. I love mine because I can fit anything in this :D, ugly but effective!

But yes the Haf is a great case, although not everyone likes the way it looks.

I was in your same position. I already had a damn good case (Lian Li PC-X500) and I wasn't going to get a new case that wouldn't be as pretty, so I refrained from buying 6970's for CF and instead got a single GTX580. I am going to get a second GTX580 later.

The ultra doesn't hold as big of a video card.. Holds a Max of 5x 3.5" internal drives (without using the 5.25" bays of course" & is your basic crap case..

The Haf 912 on the other hand holds 6 with the drive cage in plus an additional 2x 2.5" drives. Not to mention that since the cases are the same depth & the drive cages are orientated in the same direction in the same place there video card capacity would be about equal eith the drive cage installed in the haf 912.. Thus giving it capacity for another 3.5" & 2x 2.5" drives over that POS ultra case.

Not to mention that a very large portion of people no longer find it necessary to hold a bunch of drives in there system. Currently the only drive in mine is a SSD (though I am adding another 2.5" drive to install steam games on). Also since the extra bays are removable you can hold MUCH longer video cards then the ultra can in the HAF912.
