So the system listed in my signature is not proving to be better then my old system

I came from an i5 750 lynnfield 3.2ghz ocd
4gb gskill 1300mhz ram
550 watt psu
msi p55-gd65 mobo
amd 6950 unlocked to 6970 with shaders
I ran heaven bench mark with old system and obtained 1233 score

So new system in signature is getting my 988 score with 11.8 drivers I unistalled these driver and installed 11.7 same results I cant figure out why my results are being so low? I Figured that with the new system being way more powerful I would see better results not worse.

Anyone have any suggestions?
 
Have you tried playing any games on the new rig or have you only ran benchmarks? Did you use the exact same settings for each run? Could also check the CCC to see if the tesselation level and catalyst AI are the same as on the old rig.
 
tessalation is AMD optomized and Catalyst AI is set to performance. all same settings as before. Since im on a Z68 board could heaven be using my intelll hd graphics over my discrete graphics? if this is possible any way to disable this?
 
And you use the same settings in Heaven? The score will change accordingly.
 
I've seen some benchmarks where the exact same components were used on a P67 board and then a Z68. 3D Mark11 and Heaven scores were around 10-15% less on the Z68 board since the onboard video was sharing resources with the discrete graphics. I can't find the exact links, but I'll look again after work.

Have you tried going into the BIOS and disabling anything that could be related to onboard video etc.?
 
Enable AMD overdrive and force +20 for powertune. Run heaven 2x in a row, the 2nd score counts.
 
Amd Over drive is enabled, and clocked at 900 and 1400 with +20 and my fan at 50% running nice and cool. tried different variety of driver 11.7 11.8 and 11.9rc. Still same seems to be getting worse in heaven.
 
so i busted open my GPUZ and noticed that my Card is a 16x card, but is only running at 8x in the bus? Whats up with that? I do have a 16x rail. Any thoughts?

Difference between the card running at 16x and 8x is only about ~1fps in games and 1-2% in benchmarks so the issue isn't there. Have you made sure that the onboard graphics are disabled?
 
I tried to disable the onboard card and still same results. I really cant figure out whats going on. I've moved my sound card from the 8x slot to the one below, and now my 6950 is running at 16x 2.0 but still no increase in performance. Its really starting to bug me. haha.
 
Try lowering your memory to 1350 and see if your score improves...most 6950 owners are lucky to hit 1350 without a performance hit.

leave that on, its for virtualization/vm shit.. no benefit turning it off.

and i agree with this suggestion.. due to the way GDDR5 works on AMD cards if its clocked to high it will kill performance since its constantly trying to correct errors in the memory.
 
Wait, so according to your post - you went from an i5 750 to an i5 2500K and didn't change the GPU, and are wondering why you get the same score in Heaven? I was under the impression Unigine (relatively speaking) had nothing to do with the CPU? Why is it a problem with the 6950? The 3dmark score is fine.

He gets a worse score according to the OP he got 1233 with the i5 750 and only 988 on the 2500k so he's wondering why since he kept the GPU the same.
 
yea Im getting worse scores with new system, not getting the same scores. I reduced my clock on my card back to default.. ang my 3dmark score is 5605 from 5695 lol
