AMD 6870 Crossfire and stutter

I am new to Crossfire and noticed that while playing ARMA 2 there was a small stutter when flying across the map. I researched it and found that this is an issue with all multiple GPU setups.
I read some more on it and came across an article that said to "step" your fan's speed instead of letting it do a default gradual increase. I was able to use the ATI Overdrive tool to run the fans at 50% - 70% and the stutter seemed to go away. (I did not test for hours yet).

The issue comes into play with Overdrive itself. I can set the fans to 35% or 40%+, but it gets noisy. Does anyone know how to set a profile so when the rendering gets used (like going into anything accelerated) it can be told to use the faster fan speed then and go back to normal when on my regular desktop?
 
That is not a crossfire issue, that is an arma2 issue. Arma has had that problem since day one.
 
I am not 100% convinced of that. I just upgraded from a single 5850 to the 6870 xfire and just started noticing that. Now, you have a very good point on a part of it. If I run ARMA 2, I can get 60 FPS and it runs like butter. If I run ARMA 2 OA, I get 50 FPS and it runs great. If I run CO, I get 18-33 FPS. So somehow, the game itself is weird, but not what I am describing with the micro/GPU stutter.
