Amd 64...

While some CPU's do not really need a thermal interface material (which is to say: they will probably not combust without it), thermal grease or at least a thin layer of the OEM goop is a good idea --it's not going to hurt anything and it'll make your CPU run cooler than metal to metal contact.

I don't know if the A64 classifies as one of those 'safe' CPU's, by the way. So if you're going to run without a thermal material, be damned sure to double check that fact.

In other words: Use Thermal Paste even IF its written down somewhere that you don't have to. It's safer and easier to do that than risk something with such an expensive CPU.

WHAAAAAA!!!!!, ok look at your amd64, next look at the heat sink, big isent it heavy isent it, which means that chip will produce some heat so who ever told you you would not need thermal paste, take the heat sink and implat it in there head, its like driving a car with out oil sure you could do it, but you wont get far
