Hey,

I just built my new rig. I have a K8N Neo Platinum and a NewCastle 3200+ @ stock speed. I have a thermaltake venus 12 cooling it. However MSI CoreCenter is saying that my idle temp is like 58C and full load is like 65C. I bought the AMD 64 cause everyone says how cool they run @ like 32C idle 37C load. So now "Cool n Quiet" runs my fans at "Fast 'n Obnoxious" speeds even when I idle. Can someone help me?

Hi, I have a MSI K8N Neo Plat with a AMD 3400+. I used AS5 and a Zalman 7000A-AlCu. I get 60C idle and 75C or so under load. After checking the MSI forums, the board is supposed to be reporting temps wrong. Some claim a BIOS update can't permantely fix it, that the sensor is bad. Hope they are right because the high temps still freak me out even though there supposed to be wrong.

You might wanna update your Bios if you haven't done so already, when I did this my temps dropped down quite a bit, I still don't think that it's reading right though, 40C idle, 51/52 under full load. I downloaded Motherboard monitor 5 as well, it reports temps a little lower than Core Center packaged with the motherboard. I have the same heatsink as well, you might want to install the potentiometer and manually control your fan, when you turn it down all the way the fan is barely heard. Also try unhooking the temperature sensor that came with the board, that also seemed to override the pot.

Hopefully the sensor on the board isn't permanetly screwed up, and that they can write a better bios to fix these problems.
