Hello,

This is my first post , and at the risk of sounding completly ignorant I just cant figure out why I cant OC my proc. I recently built a new machine

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB Mushkin PC3500 2-3-2-5
ATI Radeon 9800XT 256MB
Gigabyte GA-K8VT800M Micro ATX

I have flashed the machine to the latest bios and everything on this machine has been done from scratch. In the bios I have an option to change the FSB (Default 200). If I set the FSB to say for example "210" with a 10X standard multiplier I should be running at 2100 MHZ but this is not the case. The bios will reflect the changes I have made but when I check the CPU clock in XP it reads a 200 Mhz FSB and 2000 MHZ! If I reboot the machine and go back into the bios the FSB will still be set to 210! I have tried multiple combinations to no avail.

The only way I have even gotten the system to see a diffrent FSB is in 3D Mark 2001. At the end of the benchmark when it lists your system specs along with your score it will read the FSB @ 210 but the CPU Clock will be only 2000. If you guys have any input on this it woud be greatly appricated thanks!

Zachary

P.S - Ive just recently done some of my first case mods , and was wondering also if anyone knew a good site for hosting some pics so I could post them here. Thanks again

i second that. gigabyte makes like 2 OC friendly mobo's. the rest dont have PCI/AGP lock or they use dip switches for multiplier changes. just not a good board to OC, but they run rock solid at their default settings.
