How overclockable is the amd 6000 ???? If so some tips on how to do so !
 
some one one got 3.3something out of one in the forums.probably a exception to the rule.3ghz isnt slow
 
If I remember correctly, 3GHZ is stock. So in that particular case 3.2-3.3 is incredible slow IMHO.
 
Mine used to do 3.3 GHz stable - then I got a new power supply (PCP&C 750W) and it is now stable at 3.4 GHz. It boots Windows at 3.525 GHz, but I'd rather take the 3.4 GHz that is more consistent.
 
There's a sticky at the top that should explain pretty well how to overclock that 6000. Good luck with it. Hope you've got a good cooling system or a nice fire extinguisher because you won't be able to push too much more out of it.

How did you overclock it ??? Like if you could give me some steps that would be great ! The stock heat sink it came with is huuuuge compared to all the other heat sinks ! Did you buy a new heat sink ? o and one more thing i have an xclio stable power 500wat psu. Its running the amd 6000 and a 8800gts 640 what kind of oc do you think ill be getting

Have you read the sticky at the top on how to overclock? It should explain to you pretty well how to overclock your 6000.

What kind of ram have you got and what kind of mobo are you using? Those are also two big factors in achieving any sort of overclock.

Ok, I am going to ask a third time...have you read the sticky on pedal to the metal at the top of this subforum? If not...look here and read that article. It will guide you through the overclocking process.

I can explain it in simple terms but that guide is far more detailed and should give you a good start. Don't expect a 100% overclock or anything near it with that 6000 though. You'll be lucky to get a 10% overclock out of it, which really won't be too bad considering its already clocked at 3.0ghz and has 2mb of cache.

I spent two hours reading up on it ! complicated as hell prob. gonna try sitting down tonight and doing it again
 
I have my 6000 sitting at 3.4GHz stable liqid cooled though. It idles at 36 c and it goes up to 54 c after a full hour of UT3. Its also at 1.56V.
 
I figure I'll throw in my setup, just for informational purposes.
As my Sig states, my 6000+ is very comfortable at 3.4Ghz, 245x14 @ 1.425v, water cooled idle=33c and load 44c.
I've built a couple of others for customers, also EXOS 2 cooled and they have clocked pretty much the same, able to do a bit higher but very stable @3.4Ghz.

With air cooling and stock amd 6000 heatsink where d oyou think i can get ?
 
If I throw a baseball how fast will it be going? Youd probably have better luck guessing that than we would telling you how fast your chip will go.
There are variables such as how cold the room is, how much voltage it needs to go higher (more increases means you need better heatsink), and overall luck.
 
As long as you go slow and take your time, it will be fun to overclock. Whether it is worth it or not is entirely up to you and what you are trying to do with your computer. :eek: :D

I bought mine for the sole purpose of avoiding an overclock. I got tired of taking my 3600 brisbane at or near 3ghz from 1.9ghz and realized that for around $150, I wouldn't have to worry about hitting 3ghz stable.

So far I have yet to have a hiccup with my system running the processor at stock speeds. the only thing I've overclocked is the ram.

Yeah my ram didnt come as advertised ! How did you oc the ram ? Im nood to this so if u could tell me it would be awesom

I overclocked my graphic card with out any problems im just a little eddgy about blowing my system so im asking
 
Keep bumping it up slowly. Keep it steady and when you feel that it's too far then back down just a little and keep it there.

I have a stock amd 6000 heat sink so im kinda eddgy about that too. At what temps do you think i should stop pushing it /

That "stock" heatsink is a piped heatsink and has shown to be a great heatsink for overclocking.
