AMD 4P Burning and Prep for OC?

If load on the rails is balanced.

I still recommend:
1. Making sure that one 8-pin EPS comes from 12V1 (non-modular) and other 8-pin EPS comes from 12V2 (modular) -- if this can't be satisfied all bets are off.
2. Testing with better suited PSU
I have the standard CPU Connector / EPS 8-pin that is non-modular and the other 8-pin EPS is coming from an adapter (2x 4pin Molex to 8pin EPS) that is feed from ONE 2x 4pin molex and 4-pin Aux modular cable. Should I connect another molex modular cable and bridge the two with the adapter?

This kind of porn shot feels dirtier than normal?

I would also recommend testing with beefier and/or single-rail PSU.

Back from vacation, swapped out the psu for a new EVGA Classified SR-2 1200W ($120 after rebate). It just feel like complete overkill for this rig.. BUT we should have petty of good power for the OC.

I have started the testing at "sudo ./smocng.sh 226" with a draw of 465W on P6901

Up and running for 16hrs now, completed P6901. I've never made it over 6 hours before a complete shutdown occurred, so I'm thinking I can push up the clock.

I'm think to jump into the 230's or 240s, instead of inching up one at a time. Thoughts?

I did jumps of 10 with the 6128s, so try 236 maybe.
On one MB these CPUs would fold stable at 257 weeks at a time.
Physically the same CPUs on the next MB are pretty maxed out at 249.

Yeah, that PSU could easily be your culprit. As tear said, either get a single rail or a PSU with a clear rail distribution such that it can feed the 24-pin and 8-pin connectors healthily. There are even 1000W+ PSU's out there where most of the juice is reserved for PCI-E connectors for video cards, etc... One blatant example is TT Toughpower Grand series...

Btw, it's a very nice setup ;)

I think you guys nailed this problem. After changing the PSU all the overclocking / shutdown issue have seemed to cleared up!!! :)

Progress after swap:
OC 226@465W - 16 hrs
OC 236@530W - 22 hrs <- Change VCore to 1.05
OC 246@542W - 2 hrs <- just starting

Temps are 38C - 45C
I have some retries, but it's not growing while folding, maybe something with boot prior to Vcore pstate being set within my terminal window?
Code:
       L0S0 L1S0 L2S0 L3S0 L0S1 L1S1 L2S1 L3S1
Node 0 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Node 1 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Node 2 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Node 3 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Node 4 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Node 5 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Node 6 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Node 7 019c 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
Is OC 256 a reasonable next jump or start going with small increases maybe to 251?

Like I said before, 257 was my stable max.
Maybe try 5 this time.
Just be aware if you push it too far and it does not POST, follow what tear says in the guide beginning and then read the CMOS clearing instructions from SM carefully.
With 3 rigs I have managed to eventually push too far on all, but had no problems resetting CMOS and stepping back the OC on all.

Storm front rolled thru and wiped out the power for 15 hours, put me behind schedule.

OC 251@543W - P6901 w/ TPF 6:26 mins - runtime 5 hrs and counting.

Code:

Node 7 C0:41 C1:41 C2:41 C3:41 C4:41 C5:41

Running solid at 257 for days.. I probably could get more out of it, but I'm very happy and no reason to push any more during the heat wave.

Thanks for all the Help Everyone!! :)
