If you can wait a day or two, rumor has it that AMD and dropping the price across the board due the debut of fx-60. $299 is in line of the rumor of the $295 pricing for the X2 3800+. Intel in rumored to be dropping their D line also. Time to go dual-core!

So the opteron 148 is superior to a 3700+ Sandy?

at stock speeds they should perform identically... the opteron should have more overclocking headroom though. The OEM 148 can be had for around $215

This *is* the new price. Same patterns happen with every AMD annoucement.
Vendors match the new q1000 price a few days/week before the update.
Monarch has the same price now.

Great chip, been using it for a few months now @ 2600 1.45v, will do 2700 with 1.55v
