AMD 3080 question

Right, there is no rhyme or reason to PCIe support (chipset/CPU) launching in-time to graphics card support. For PCIe 2.0 the cards launched six months before the chipsets. For 3.0 they launched almost simultaneously tto CPU support.

The only thing I can guarantee: whatever the first card is to launch with the new bus, it WILL NOT NEED THE BANDWIDTH. I would worry about the next generation of Zen, and make sure you pick up a PCIe 4.0 validated motherboard for your future gaming needs.

New video cards will get support well before they actually need the extra bandwidth. The 9800 GTX never needed PCIe 2.0, and the HD 7970/GTX 680 never needed PCIe 3.0.

The widest performance improvement seen in any single game was 4%. The's lost in the noise.
