AMD 17.12.2 drivers

afff.. I shouldn't have updated to 17.12.2.. Now im getting something first time seen to me *RED SCREEN OF DEATH*, and with a lot of issues to install previous drivers, this won't be a good ride it seems.

At least I can SEE the performance tab doing alt-R before it crashes out my ten year old game. Was --- lazy and did a quick install (over the top of 17.12.1)

Sad to see none of the issues I'm having are mentioned in the release notes.

Release notes doesn't mention all the issues.. they typically show the more common around their user database and knowledge database.. if they put every issue reportes the list would be gigantic. They should do as nvidia, release a pdf file with a comprehensive list of known issues.

Sadly due AMD having weird issues I was forced to remove their gpus from my BOINC machines as they need to be 100% reliable and stables..

yikes.....i only had 1 card do that and it got rma'd....but these days it certainly can be the drivers especially if the older ones are fine. You using a vega64?

Yeah vega64.. it happened first in Hitman, first thought it could be a PSU issue, swapped the PSU and it then happened just after about 3 minutes of gaming in splinter cell blacklist (wanted to use another game to discard a specific game issue).. now I can install previous drivers without any kind of overclock because or it will cause insta-crash... well at least no more red screen.

It was cool to see my first red screen of death.. lol trust me I was scared.

found the issue and solved it (I think, so far) drivers was undervolting the GPU itself, for no reason. it was just like some kind of profile added, so reset everything to default and so far it's working again in games.

thats exactly the same issue i was having from 17.7.2 until the 17.11.4.....how they fuck up the gpu voltage in a driver is a good question? rtss and afterburner helps some much in figuring these thing out

That's the very reason I don't like overclocking capabilites/features and monitoring from the drivers..

Those are things I prefer from third party apps precisely to avoid this kind of issues.. with those things I suspect they might tweak a bit more than necessary things. (*Insert conspiracy theory*) ie. Make specific power profiles for benchmarks to perform better than what it should put of the box, a bit of voltage added here, subtracted there could mean a lot of difference in a game or benchmark.
