AMD 11.6 - Error installing Stream/OpenCL etc...

Morning everyone. I recently decided to upgrade my Catalyst 11.5 to 11.6 through my normal method - uninstall 11.5 (Express uninstall, remove completely, reboot) and reinstall 11.6. This time something odd happened - though 11.6 installed it noted there was something to look at in the logfile - it turns out that the Stream/Parallel processing/OpenCL item couldn't install.

I went to AMD's website and pulled down the individual 11.6 OpenCL package and tried to install. According to Windows, there is already a version of this software installed and I need to uninstall it first. Unfortunately, I don't see where that could be? AMD Catalyst Install Manager doesn't even show it as one of the components. There's no separate OpenCL or another AMD item in the uninstall Control Panel area. Now, going into my program files (x86) I can find a AMD APP directory with a couple of exes in it and nothing else. I thought I'd check with the forum before I attempt to just delete that folder.

Any idea? I'd hate to have to find some driver cleaner and go into safe mode and all of that, so if someone knows a good solution or has been through this before, let me know? Thanks!
 
That folder doesn't contain the Stream/OpenCL driver components, just a couple of utilities.

You may have an ATI Stream folder under Program Files, and the rest of the OpenCL and Stream components are in system32/syswow64 folders with the drivers.

You can try the standalone APP SDK 2.4 installer to get those other components installed: http://developer.amd.com/sdks/amdappsdk/downloads/pages/default.aspx
 
Thanks, I'll see how that works. Seems to be a lot more stuff in here then the OpenCL stuff from the Catalyst package. I take it that the runtimes are what's most important if you're not developing? I just want to make sure that I'm getting everything I'd get in the typical "user" Catalyst install too. Stream has been good to me with BC mining, so I was perplexed to find that error.

Seems this installer works anyway and doesn't give the "You must uninstall first" rhetoric!

Edit: Spoke too soon... Log (edited) follows... It just won't install that bloody runtime! Any idea?

If you have a BC mining program/service running in the background, that could have caused the Catalyst APP/Stream/OpenCL portion of the driver update to fail.
 
Good idea, but I don't have any of that running in the background. I'll try turning off Malwarebytes and Spybot, but everything else is conventional.

Edit: No go. Attempts to run Catalyst Install Manager again show the new Stream stuff that DID install, (SDK, kernel analyser, samples) but not the runtime/OpenCL/APP itself.
