I don't care about packaging :p

In for 2. I'll post SSDlife screencaps when they show up.

I wish I could justify one because that would be a great second SSD for my machine.

Things I have to do:

1. Stop looking in the [H]ot|DEALS section.

2. Stop looking in the [H]ot|DEALS section when I'm broke as shit.

3. Stop looking at PC hardware PERIOD when I'm broke as shit.

I bought one open box ssd from amazon and that will be the last 'Warehouse Deals' I will ever buy. It was clearly used, had a huge inventory sticker on it, and if you need warranty service the invoice lists the seller as 'warehouse deals' and not Amazon.

Dang... this is so tempting. Might grab it tomorrow if it is still in stock.

I should go to sleep. Hopefully it's gone by the morning so I don't go doing something stupid like ordering one when I don't even need it, lol.

So did you return it? -.-

That's what "Open Box" means, dude. What did you think it meant?

The one I ordered was marked 'like new' which means I didn't expect it to look like it was dragged behind a tractor and have a sticker on it that I couldn't get off with a hair dryer.

I wish someone would want my Newegg $40 gift card for a $40 Amazon gift card so I can buy this.

I bought a 65" plasma tv "Like New" from the warehouse which included white glove shipping. I got the TV, they brought it in and set it up, and I tested it while they waited. The TV was bad so they boxed it back up and a couple days later my money we returned, no questions asked. You have 30 days to beat this drives ass and if for any reason you don't think it hold up then hit up amazon and ship it back to them on their dime. I just wish I had more play money to snag this right now...

I've personally found Amazon Warehouse to be hit and miss. For instance, I purchased a "like new" ironing board that was stated to "may come repackaged". Packaging was torn, which I didn't care about, but the board itself had a 2" x 2" L-shaped cut in it. This cut was easily visible and not hidden by the packaging either. Definitely not "like new".

On the other hand, I've had purchases come exactly as described.

Returns are easy so not much of a risk.

Best part is, they will cover return shipping costs (prepaid label). Only thing you'd lose out of the whole process would be your time.

I bought from Amazon Warehouse once before (GA-X79-UD3) and the board had a bad memory slot. I ended up using Gigabytes warranty on the board and got it taken care of. Ended up with a fully working board in the end. It is hit or miss. However, I'd think an SSD can take some abuse that it's less likely to be DOA.

Tempted, but really want an mSATA version. If this were new at this price I'd probably get one and say to heck with mSATA.

Already have a 128GB 830 for OS, and 500GB 840 for games. Dont know what could I possibly use this for, but I want it...

Faster Porn collection?

Dont have one. Dont see the point in saving it, when there are plenty of good free sites.

Debating if I need more then 500GB for game storage. Well, actually have 420GB after overprovisioning, and its not recomended to fill it more then 60%. Still have about 150GB before I reach that point.

Where is it not recommended to fill more than 60% of an SSD? Especially on a drive that you're going to use mostly for quick access storage with minimal Write/Erase actions.

Fill it up all the way and don't worry about it, you're never going to write enough data to your drive to even make a dent in it's life in your usage scenario.

got mine today, came in the stock box ( a little dented(the box). and no huge inventory sticker on it. time to test em :)

This will be my first SSD. What's the best way to check to make sure it wasn't a dud? (other than see if it works in the first place)

CyrstalkDiskMarkInfo, SSDLife

Check around, there are many more programs you can check for...

- Hours of On-Time/Operation
- Reads/Writes Amount

I say anything under 1000 hours of operation is still in good condition.

I have a Samsung 840 non pro. On my phone and can't link it, but check out the anandtech review and testing the durability of TLC nand.

Also, telling someone to fill an SSD without knowing which one is very bad advice, since you can literally brick some sandforce drives by doing that.

The drive will be long outdated well before you wear it out, even if you "fill it" more then 60%...C'mon Cecil, I expected more outta you then this..You usually tend to be right on the mark, but you missed the target completely here..
