There have been reports that the through board cooler mounting holes have changed from 96 x 48 mm of AM3+
to 90 X 54 mm of AM4.

A new image of an ASUS A320M-C motherboard from a nearly plan view has appeared.

I thought I would scale this image and check the dimensions.

This is based on the assumption that the pin spacing is 1mm, giving 38mm across the 39 pins.

The 90 x 54 is with in the margin of error of the scaling but not knowing how the back plate was measured 90 x 54.5mm maybe more accurate.

AM4 was already confirmed to have same dimension as AM3
I assume you mean from around May 25 2016
"For all AMD fans, we have good news. As we advance AMD has assured the new AM4 processors and motherboards are put on the usual base-fixing, which is standard for AM2. To follow all the Thermalright coolers are used on the Zen processors without additional accessories!"

Later Sept 22 2016:
The new socket will apparently require a new cooler design, which is contrary to early reports (yes, we got it wrong, too) that the AM4 socket would be compatible with existing AM3 cooler mounts (manufacturers could of course offer hardware kits for existing cooler designs). In any case, AMD's new socket takes more of the delicate copper pins you love to try not to bend!

Does not matter to me one way or the other, Noctua is sending me a mounting kit for my NH-D15 when it is available.

There's a discussion in the cooler forum, they aren't the same. It will require either notching the mount or a new mount. You should be pretty safe with Noctua as they provide new mounting hardware for free I think within 5 years of purchase.

Just to weigh in, everything I've read from around the net (sorry, I don't have anything to cite, I wasn't figuring anyone would be thinking otherwise), it has been said that AM4 was going to have a different cooling mount setup compared to before and that new cooler brackets to retrofit would be required. Also that all the companies were working on those and that most, if not all, would have them ready/available for Zen launch.

Whether or not that was regarding the pre-built system's AM4 mounting (which has been out for months now) or if it was inclusive of DIY systems.... I don't know. We've all seen the occasional systems from HP, Dell, etc which deviate from the processor manufacturer's mounting specs, but it's not often. Typically I think it occurs on systems that have a motherboard with a custom formfactor/layout (Dell XPS 720 as an example, whose case I liked and was going to nab one but can't due to a mirrored motherboard design).

I have a Thermaltake Water2.0 Pro that I'd really like to use for my Ryzen, so I'm hoping that a bracket is available for it, despite being a bit older now. If not, I'll just have to custom make an adapter with some aluminum, and use either the AM3 or Intel mounts
