AM2+ boards, when?

> ECS and ASUS, Looks like biostar and gigabyte actually have quality control, don't knock them. Biostar has been a big player with c2d and AM2 as of late, gigabytes been dominating in the c2d department for awhile. Not too sure where you've been.

as far away from tier 1 boards as i can get... with the exception being Asus of course...Gigebytes and Biostar boards are great, don;t get me wrong, but id never run one because id rather wait and spend my money on a board with more features, and they all work at a higher overclock...

DigiTimes posted the list of ASUS boards that will support AM2+ chips w/a BIOS update. I'm a bit confused by this, though: will these BIOS updates "unlock" the faster HT, or will they just enable the new chips to run on the older boards?

I'm sure the BIOS updates just allow the boards to support quad core processors. HT3 is the biggest selling point for the new boards and processors, and the word has always been that AM2 boards will support AM2+ cpus at the cost of the newer, faster HT speeds.

The ECS RX780M-A has surfaced. Yes, it's not the RD790, but it is AM2+.

They've also got shots of the RD790-based DFI LanParty board.

Not only that, they say that they expect AM2+ full launch in mid-October...

The suggestion of a mid October AM2+ release along with this and this make me think we'll see the launch of the boards and the processors together next month.

i think the am2+ launch may be this month or next if you look at newegg they have an am2+ cat for amd motherboards. furthermore the boards should be coming very soon, with the chips to follow. Since an am2 chip will work on an am2+ board with out questions.

what boards are in the pipe that we know about maybe a detailed listing on the 1st post in this thread would be helpful to all :D just an idea

Agreed. PM sent to Bläkki enquiring about an updated first post.

Awesome! Let's see the reviews!!

I don't know... see that 4-pin 12-volt connector, and the coil sitting between it and where the PSU usually is? That would drive me batty if that picture is the final layout. Deal breaker for me, never a clean build. Speaking of which, what IS up with those coils anyway? That shit's over a year out of date. Why does every board maker get cheapass on the AMD boards? :(

The only one I want is this one...

Sexay !

Nuts how that heatpipe extends to the RAM... With all those components under the 'pipe, I'd assume you'd need decent airflow over the radiator fins on that bad boy  Then again, the chipset itself is apparently cool enough for simple passive cooling...

Jeez I can't take it anymore.. these boards need to get released STAT

I've read that Inquirer article and I am astonished they put so many features into that chipset, yet draws only 8W!

Then, you look at the X38/P38 chipsets and motherboard manufacturers using highly elaborate heatsinks on them, makes you think: "You know, that 790FX is looking mighty tempting now."

Fuad found the GA-M790FX-DQ6 on sale in the UK for ~162 pounds. That's hefty in USD (~$324), but I've read that hardware is alot less expensive over here and not taxed nearly as heavily. I couldn't imagine this board going for over $200, but you never know.

Hey Manny, looks like your board's on sale (in Australia?) for $328.94. From what I can tell, the one you've got pictured above in this thread is the Wi-Fi/AP version of the M3A32-MVP Deluxe. The regular old M3A32-MVP Deluxe has a different heat pipe assambly on it that doesn't extend to the RAM. It's not clear, but I think it's the non-Wi-Fi version above for $328. Anyone have any idea how this might translate to a US price? A straight Australian to US conversion comes out to $288.97 USD.
