This is basically the same deal as the 5000x2 Black Edition posted earlier. It was dead for awhile and now it is alive again. This IMO is the best combo.

http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/AddToCart.aspx?Submit=ADD&ItemList=Combo.69397

Or go to the page on Newegg for Corsair XMS2 DHX CAS4:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145177

Or AM2 4000x2 Brisbane

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103774

And select the combo from there.

Throw in a cheap mobo with HDMI and the Antec NSK2400 on sale at ZZF and you got a nice HTPC for roughly $150 AR.

Newegg also has an Nmedia HTPC case and DVD burner SATA combo for $68.

Therefore:
$61 for processor and ram
$68 for DVD burner nice HTPC case
$70 for mobo with HDMI

= $189

throw in a 500 gb for about $100 and a couple atsc tuners at $30 a pop = perfect HTPC setup for around $350

Dayum. Ordered. Now it sits in a box until NEXT paycheck when I order the Mobo.

NEWEGG HAS 3 OPTION
1. credit card (that i use to do)
2. BILL ME LATER ( no payment for 3 month ) more than 250
3. No payment for 6 month more than 500

ANYONE ever experience the number 2 and 3 ?
is there ANY interest if we pay right on time ?

Bill Me Later is ok, but it's only interest free for 90 days. I used it a couple of times and then closed the account. 90 days is just too little time imho... I use Lowes 12-month Interest Free all the time and have always pay it off before the 12th month is over. It's great using someone elses money for a year. :D

BTW, I haven't used #3, but the Phenom is drawing me in ever closer to try it... :p

Correct, there is no interest on #3 if you pay before the 6 months is up. Just don't wait around til after the 6 months or you'll regret it. I used the no payments for 6 months with my core2 upgrade earlier this year.

how about number 2 ?

is it really no interest for 3 month
or JUST FOR NO payment for 3 month but still pay interest, even not late.

I bit on the combo along with this hopefully the mobo works and has everything I need, but we'll see...

I don't play any games, my most demanding program would be Photoshop. I like to multitask and have multiple programs opened at the same time (Outlook, AIM, Excel, Word, Firefox, Itunes, Pandora, WMP, all opened at once).

Will this be worth the $60 + $$$ for a new motherboard? I'm running an AMD XP overclocked to 2.0ghz and 1.5gb RAM. I was planning on getting an Intel, but this deal seems really good. Would you recommend this for a non-gamer, or should I save for an Intel setup? I do plan on overclocking. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving!

Man, now I am going to have to get a price match. I suppose Newegg.com isn't open today?:(

This should be more than enough for a non gamer. If not overclocked AMD is better bang for the buck than Intel at regular prices and this is a steal.

Thanks I just placed an order. I also got an open box Gigabyte MB. Yesterday I got the $10 Cooler Master case and FAR Gemini heatsink. I'm going to pricematch my 24" Soyo monitor tomorrow at Office Max :)

You guys missed the Fry's deal on the Antec NSK2480 for $50 shipped after rebate. Fry's site says it is good until today, but the rebate coupon says it was over yesterday.

I just bit on the 4000+ combo. I am actually kind of glad it didn't work for me when this deal popped up a few days ago at 10 bucks more.
