i7 920 at 166x20 (3.33GHz) with HT and Turbo (3.5GHz) on. 6-7 minute steps sounds ok from what I've seen mentioned in other threads, but my points seem lower than what I've heard people suggest I should be getting. I don't really recall project 6012 being mentioned though. Any thoughts?

That does seems slow to me. I'm currently running a 6012 on my X3350 in the sig, but only at 3.4ghz instead of 3.56 and I'm almost exactly at 5 minutes a frame. I'd think that a 920 would be able to keep up with a core 2 quad with only a 66mhz advantage. Do you have any processes running that are sucking down cpu that you don't realize?

Some of the early A3 units were a grab bag, a few were able to take advantage of HT "cores" while others were closely tied to "real" cores

Not sure if thats changed but someone can confirm that

As for times, I think you are running a tad slow, at 3.9 I was getting 3:30 TPF on that WU, but thats a higher clock, and I was running a dedicated box on a minimal fresh install, your setup could e differant, and you could have more things taking up CPU power, especially GPU folding

Hmmm, I am running dnetc on both the ATI and Nvidia cards. The CUDA client seems to use a decent bit of CPU. It was up to 12% or so. I've lowered its priority and it dropped down a little, moving F@H from ~87% up to ~94%. That difference could account for being "a bit slower" than average.

However, Kendrak said a stock 920 should do 8-9k ppd. Unless I'm not understanding something properly, I've only earned ~2k over the last two days. This isn't a completely dedicated folding box, but it is unused all day while I'm at work and all night while I'm sleeping, and mostly only web browsing and email when I am using it (haven't really gamed much the last few days).

You gotta get the bonus, takes about 3 days to get the 10 units finished to get the bonus

Did you follow the part of the guide about a passkey?

I think that answers my question - that I'm not seeing the bonus yet. I read through the guides a while before I started the actual F@H install, then went back and skimmed through it when I was installing, so I may have missed some little details.

I don't think it matters anymore, but I do have the passkey entered and I'm running Win7 Pro x64, FYI.

Man, dnetc is so much simpler. =)

I'm pretty sure I was getting comparable frame times on my Phenom II x3. Regardless of bonus not being awarded, those frame times seem very slow. I have noticed that some of the A3 units don't like it much when you heavily load a single core. It's like they need all of the cores simultaneously or they starve all of the free ones.

well A3 is very sensitive to CPU use, so if you are running any GPU folding it will have a noticeable affect on your PPD, although the points are negated because of the high PPD that GPUs get.

Also if this is your main rig, you will also lose to time there when you are using it. When I am at my computer and using my main rig I see a increase in TPF close to a minute.

Also you are not yet receiving the bonus, once that kicks in youll be better off.

Just for comparison, my average is around 4:15 per frame on my work PC. It's a stock i7 860.

Yea, the GPU clients will sap about that much, once the bonus kicks in you'll be fine still, my Q66 gets a bit over 4k at 8:10 TPF, so you'll be fine at 6 TPF, maybe 6k once the bonus kicks In

The SMP client is just as easy as anythig else I've run, once you get the install done all you have do do is make a short cut, add the fflags and it's set and forget, I am even leaving mine on while I game. It gets slower TPFs, considerably, like 20 minutes, but it's better than not running it while I game, and I can't forget to restart it that way. O game today uses enough of anything above a Q66 to bog down that much, and that's on XP, win 7 is better at multi threaded stuffs

Now that I got rid of my quad SLI setup I'm going back to 7 next week

your video cards are killing your times horribly. my i5-750@ 4.0 does these with fram times of 3:55 to 4:05 i7-860@4.0 does these in around 3:00

There really isn't much. It's a little cheaper to go 1156 vs 1366 right now.
