Am I setup right?

I remeber trying to get into folding awhile back.. never took. Too much work to do.

This time, I just downloaded the graphic client, inputed team 33, and went to town.. Is that all I have to do? I ran it all last night, I'm at work now, and it's still running. But my work unit won't finish till 5 tonight or so. Do I not get any points till my WU is complete?

HERE'S MY LINK

Rig in sig BTW... temp. overclocked to 3.4Ghz just for the [H]orde

Looks like you're good to go. Thanks for joining Team 33. :D

You have to submit the work unit to get credit.

I'd suggest finding a stable OC that you're comfortable running 24/7 and then start running the SMP client for a huge point increase over the standard client. Obviously any points are better than none, but setting up the SMP client isn't difficult at all if you're willing to give it a go.

awesome... So i should see it around 5. :) since I don't leave work till 7 that gives something to do the last couple of hours :)

I'll play with the SMP some. Since I bought a 360 the computer ins't used as much. Might as well put that processor to good use.

From the above comment.. 3.4Ghz is nice and stable. I have Tuniq Tower on there some I'm sure I could push 3.6, or 3.8 if need be. But I sleep in the same room as the computer and when It's o/c'd to much it gets hot in there.

Plus i'm already looking in the FS/T seeing how cheap some deadicated folders are :)

Welcome!

If you can get SMP going you will see a BIG jump in points like others said.

Look around, maybe you get the bug and start a farm of your own. :D

hey hey!!!!! check the link... 135 points..

Welcome aboard. And as others have said, get the smp client running asap. Instead of 135 pts for 24 hours of work, you should be seeing 1760 pts for 19-20 hours. There's a few extra steps to getting it running, but feel free to ask any of us for help if you need it.

For some reason the SMP client is being a bitch

error after error

I'm guessing it's an install issue. right now i'm at 3.2Ghz... It's plenty stable.

I removed the graphical client. Then I try to install the SMP client, and then run install.bat, and get that

still haven't ran the client

make sure you turn off User Account Control before you run the install.bat....that can give some issues during the install process....you can turn it back on after you finish installing

good stuff man... turning off UAC and setting my account with a password worked... I'm folding away via SMP client :) :)

That's awesome. Welcome aboard the SMP gravy train. I can already tell you're hooked. Hehe.

I'm not hooked!! I can quit anytime... I swear!

:)

so is it normal for a WU to take 20hours-ish

already looking into a dedicated folder :) this is my gaming rig..

Looks like I may go the route of just get me a new mobo, and processor.. then transfer these guts into another box..

Don't want to spend that much, but I doubt i can get a folding rig for <=$250

shit you guys make it too easy... Damn you all..

:( oh man

55% done with my WU on the SMP client... want to see how many points i get for it :) :)

if you know what the project # is (says it waaaay at the beginning right before it starts running the WU), you can check the active project list here for point values

Wow, there are 2539 point WUs?!! Never seen any of those!

I don't get them even on my dual quads...

dunno then :D
it's been a rare one indeed, only seen a few reports of it around....apparently runs roughly the same PPD as the 2605 WU, so just runs longer for higher points

Yep, these are the WUs I get most of the time. They run decent times on recent dual-core processors, and fly (no pun) on the quads.

blows the hell out of the 135 i got for the graphic client

The only WUs I ever received for the GPU client were always worth 330 points, but I process nearly two of those every day. I think it depends which video card you have.

Edit: It might also depend on the clients initial configuration, but aren't sure about that.

i think it's a quad-core specific one...i've never seen it on any of my VMs, so I'd assume they want 4 cores for it to roll

Yup:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1262668

I've gotten one on both of my Windows SMP instances. I hit the preferred deadline on both by a couple of hours, but I assume the system noticed it wasn't returned as fast as a stand-alone quad and hasn't given me another one. I get mostly 2605 and 2653s now.
