30-40 fps? WTF. It used to run the shit out of that game - so who fucked up, ATI or Steam? I'm not liking the 10.9s much, seems to have a problem. What's the best version?
 
I tried 10.4 to 10.7 and 10.9. and got Blue screen.:(
I'm on 10.8 know and have been stable for two days :)

Welcome to the ati drivers fiasco. I spend almost 2 hours trying to figure out the best drivers to use on a 5970 playing borderlands. 10.4 was the ones that did not crash at random.

Have you made sure to adjust your resoltuion and quality settings in game. Checked if vsync is disabled?

Also try disabling crossfire. Card should work like a single 5870 since yo have it clocked so high which should be fine IMO. Please post back as it would be interested to see if AMD borked the source engine games with the 5.9 drivers. That's a very important engine. Perhaps if you can confirm this you should PM Catmaker (Terry M.)
