Over the past weeks, I have been gathering all of the parts for my Dream Machine and now I am just waiting for the CPU to arrive. The parts list is as follows:

P4 550 3.4ghz Prescott w/ Thermaltake Jungle 512 HSF

Asus P5AD2 Premium mobo

Asus Radeon X800 XT vid card

1gig (2x512) Crucial Ballistix DDR2 533

1 Western Digital Raptor 74gig SATA HD

Sony 16x DVD drive

Sony DRU710A Dual Layer Burner

Sound Blaster Audigy ZS2 Platinum

Antec SOHO Fileserver case

OCZ Powerstream 520 PSU

My question to you guys is this, is there anything else I need? I am putting a Western Digital 250gig in it when I get the money (the X800 XT kind of sapped me for cash) and no, I am not putting another Raptor in it. The reason being, the RAID 0 performance boost just doesn't justify the money IMHO. Do you guys have any little tweaks that you do when putting together a system? Maybe they are not totally neccessary but you do them because you like the way it looks or performs. Those kind of tweaks.

I have also been reading in the forums that you can boost some X800 Pros to the XT PE speed levels by doing a bios tweak, is there a tweak other than OCing that I can do with my XT to get it to PE speeds? While I am on the topic, what kind of OCing do you think I can achieve with this comp? What are the first things you would do to it if you had this system with the specs I have given you? I have built a lot of computers in my day but this one is probably going to be the last big one I am going to build for myself for a while so I want it to be special and friggin fast. If you have any advice or comments I would appreciate them. Thanks in advance!

I actually contemplated getting PCP&C 510 Express. I think the OCZ will perform well enough that the extra $100 for the PCP&C would not be worth it. That was one of the hardest decisions I made while getting all of the parts together.

A power supply made by OCZ? You've got guts man. ;)

*paging djness* :p

how about some accessories.? Like a nice big screen monitor, some killer speakers, Newer keyboard/opitical mouse. And a new desk or seat so you can sit back, and enjoy your newest toy.

Hehe it is funny that you mentioned accessories. I have a Logitech MX700 and am contemplating grabbing the MX1000. As for my keyboard, it is an old Microsoft Elite Erganomic one. I love that keyboard but it is dying....I think it is almost six years old now. I will probably just buy another one of the same keyboard.

You mentioned speakers and those are on my Xmas list as is Lane office chair. I have an oldschool 19" Princeton monitor that is not flat screen but has served me very well and has yet to die so I probably won't be getting a new monitor anytime soon. : )

These were all good suggestions however. What else?
