I got my RMA number from Abit for my KV8 Pro because I happened to get one with the multiplier locked. Now that the computer is about to be put back together and I just got my new 19" L90D+.. I don't feel like sending it in and possibly waiting like 2 weeks for it to get back. I've had some solid OC's without playing with the multiplier and I would love to to further but at the moment I don't know if I really wanna deal with abit b/c I've heard some horror stories and the fact that I don't know if I want a refurbed board anyway. What do you guys think? Thanks..

Personally, I don't think you should be abusing the system for you're own gain. The RMA system is there for people who have genuinly damaged hardware, not for people who want to keep swapping their working hardware until they get something they want, thats low dude.

well, i don't see any problem with RMAing the thing if the multi is not SUPPOSED to be locked on the board.

HOWEVER, although i do not konw A64 all that well, i DO know that multi locking is on the chip, rather than on the board for A32.

so, if it is the CPU that is locking you multi, then what is the point of getting a different board?

Haha, its funny because when I read his post I didnt even really pay that much attention to his content or question, just that he was abusing the RMA system and it kinda pissed me off so I made a reply about it lol. But yes, the multiplier control is not on the mobo (thats a crazy thing to think lol), its on the CPU ... and dont think about RMAing you're cpu now pls

haha... Abit is offering to RMA the boards that are meant to have the multiplier locked you jackass. THEY WERE MEANT TO BE UNLOCKED... The multiplier should be able to be moved no question asked... I'm not abusing the system.. I'm just trying to get what I payed for.. You guys are quick to talk trash... Oh and me RMAing a board that works fine just doesnt have the multiplier unlocked for the new version after the intial 400 that I am part of is abusing? Your idiots...

ANY BOARD YOU GET WILL BE LOCKED FROM RAISING THE MULTI!


the ONLY way you can get the multiplier to go up is by getting an FX series CPU since they are multiplier unlocked

normal A64 chips are LOCKED no matter what board you put them on. please stop saying it should be unlocked because it makes you sound like a retard.....



cliff notes:
-multiplier wont be able to be moved upwards. only downwards
-getting a different board will not fix this
-RMAing it will do absolutely NOTHING for you because your board is working perfectly, its you that needs to learn about what your using before you assume things
-if you MUST have the multiplier be able to move upwards spend $700-$1000 to get an FX chip because thats the only way your gonna get it.
