Hello all,

I am in the process of builiding a new computer... one of the components I'm going to installin is 5 Seagate Barracuda 300GB hard drives http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148131

I want all these drives to be independent I.E. No raid?

This is the motherboard I'm going to be using. ASUS, A8N SLI Premium... EDIT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131540

On it's specification it states... 4 SATA 1.5GB, and 4 SATA 3GB. Am I reading this correctly then... Four of my drives will go on the 3GB controller and 1 on the 1.5 controller. but that one will just run slower? Will that cause any other problems with that 1 drive?

Thanks,
Shhhh.

Should be fine. There's no real world performance difference between SATA 1.5 and SATA 3GB/s, since no hard drive can saturate even a 1.5gb/s channel.
Just make sure you get a beefy PSU, because unless you use a controller that does staggered spinup, those drives are going to pull a lot of current when they're all spinning up.
