I have a 80mm fan here with the normal power wires then 2 seperate wires red and black and they attach to this thing green band that goes around the fan they have 3 leds attached to the green band. I want to use the fan but I dont want the green leds. so if I just cut the green and black wires with say scisors wil this be okay or is there a charge thats going to be going to the fan then shocking me if I touch the side of my case?

12 volts in your computer isnt enough to kill you even if you stuck the wires in your mouth. if all the wire goes to is the LED then you can cut it, and you only need to cut one side.

Um... stupid suggestion but...

Cut it when the computer is off? (Like shut of the PSU switch, and hit the power button again to get any remaining left over charge in your system out)

No it's how you interpreted it. It's an exhaust fan. I haven't installed yet it's on another computer but has LEDs. I was asking if I cut the 2 wires if they would basically screw with anything. Kinda like something electrical near a tv. Can cause interference or might put a charge on the metal case. Not Just going to chop something thats plugged in sheash..

I'm talking about cutting the two wires that connecto to the orange band.
