Works on PC or Mac!! They lowered the price today, and there's lots of good reviews for both of them. The first one has a long USB cord (for desktop use) while the 2nd one has no USB cord and folds up small (for laptop use and portableness)

Fingerprint readers are easily bypassed. Good post though

Well there was a muythbusters episode that busted older fingerprint readers... I am not into this new tech but I think this has tougher encryption compared to the first fingerprint readers.

The mythbusters had one guy leave a fingerprint randomly IIRC (its been a while). Then somehow they lifted the print with some special puddy or something you can find online and whip up. They took the lifted print and made a silicon copy of it. Then they used the fake silicon fingerprint and it worked.

It's probably on youtube... Yep here it is in the videos

But yeah.... it's not EASILY bypassed I don't think (unless there is some special new hack besides making a huge silicon operation) :p

I saw that episode... the most expensive fingerprint lock was bypassed with a photocopy of a fingerprint... but the Thinkpad style ones weren't quite so easy. BTW, if there's someone that wants into your PC bad enough to go through all the work of lifting a print, etc... your password isn't going to stop them either.

If someone is going to the trouble of creating a gel mold of your fingerprint... they should just remove the drive from the computer and save the trouble. Use drive encryption if you're that worried.
