Whoa! Way to put it bluntly. After this post I am afraid I'll have to hear some more opinions on these fans. Cause if this post is in anyway true I dont know why so many people would be using these fans..Senater_Cache said:They suck.
They are so very popular because so little people kno wwhat to look for in a radiator fan.
First off, they are NOT as quiet as one might think. I doubt Evercool has proper dba measuring equipment, as these fans are louder than my ANTEC 80mms whcih have a higher dba output.
Second, sure they have a "high" CFM rating of 80, but they have very unnattractive pressure specification. I dont recall the actual rating but it isnt what one should be looking for in a US style 2" thick Heatercore scenario.
dont waste your money.
I recommend Sanyo Denkis or Nexxus.
killernoodle said:The problem is that few axial fans can output the static pressure to push very much air through a thick radiator. The thicker the fan, however, the more pressure can be put out by the fan. Any 38mm fan will be better than a 25mm as far as noise/pressure is concerned.
I think I covered in my first post why that is.Eklipto said:if this post is in anyway true I dont know why so many people would be using these fans..

you need to think more 'objectively'cornelious0_0 said:I appreciate your input....but I'm running one Evercool 120mm aluminum fan on my DTek Pro Heatercore, and it's set up with a shroud to suck off the rad, and it's the only radiator fan. If the fan is so horrible then explain to me why I can clock my 2.8C at 3.5GHz with 1.75v and still pull off an idle temp of 23C, and a max load temp of 30C.
Obviously the fan is working for me, so I can experience here and tell people that it's NOT as bad as Senater_Cache is making it out to sound....not even close.
thx...Senater_Cache said:They suck.

Any 25mm fan won't be able to pull the same amount of air per RPM (depending on blade design and other factors, of course) through the rad becasue of the restrictiveness of the fins.
to add they are 25mm they wont push crap trhu the rad...
orkan said:I run these same fans. I have one of them sucking air through my JR-120 rad. Zero problems, and the noise doesn't bother me in the least.
I'd rather have this fan on there than one that pulls another couple CFM and looks like shit.
You could probably 5v your delta, even though it wouldn't be pushing as many CFM, it'd overcome the restrictive nature of your rad a little bettercornelious0_0 said:No, I wouldn't either, but what's available for selection in 25mm fans will always keep them more popular. the only 38mm 120 fan I've got is a Delta that blows 190cfm and is bloody loud. I'd use IT, but I dont have a fan controller to throw it on, and I'm NOT leaving it running 24/7....at least i dont think so. I could maybe get used to it.....but I'd have to see. Right now with my 25mm aluminum fan my idle temps are only 2-3C above room temp....which is good enough for me, my max load does go up by 7 or 8 degrees though, so unless I would cut THAT back by a few degrees I'll just sitck with my 120x25.
I'm not ignorant towards any of this, and I'm willing to admit that my fan just isnt the greatest for this, but what I'd gain with my Delta isnt worth enough to me to put up with the noise....and I dont feel like picking up another fan right now....too many other things with my comp already on the go.
