so what are the actual advantages of having an aluminium case instead of a plastic case?

They're both relatively light weight. That's about it. The aluminum is probably stronger in most cases. As far as cooling goes, don't get caught up in the "aluminum = super faster heat dissipation" because it's not true.

Actually plastic versus aluminum, aluminum will often net your case temps a 5 to 10 degree change. Thats alot when your stuck with air cooling.

However, most aluminum cases are designed better than plastic alternitives, with better airflow, that's where your better temperatures come from.

Aluminum is much stronger than plastic, dampens sound better (if you've got a quality case with 2mm or thicker panels) and looks a hell of a lot better.

It's also very easy to cut into, for metal.

the case i wanted to buy was the Aerocool ExtremEngine 3T which comes in plastic and aluminium but of course the aluminium is about £10 more expensive so i was wondering which one to get
