Setting up a raid array, will be 4 drives to start, expansion later.

Would like PCI-E, for future proofing against death of PCI
SATA drives for NCQ, hot swap, smaller cables, staggered spinup, etc
Online expansion, etc. Raid 5 is the array type

Any cheaper cards do this well compared to the highpoint 2320? Or is that pretty much the best choice? The 2320 is the top end up my budget, I dont mind software raid, running a dual core so it shouldn't matter.

Oh, and ordering tonight to make sure I have everything for computer rebuild mid-late next week.
and we need a raid card FAQ, or buying guide, or something.

All your other alternatives that fit your needs cost more than the Highpoint. It is the cheapest card that does all you want.

What he said ^^ Nobody else I know of is making an 8-port pci-e sata card. Highpoint is pretty dang good for home use in my book.
