Hey,

I just purchased a Liebert GXT2 1000VA

Well after playing with it for a bit, the software Liebert provides on their site "Multilink viwer" or w/e it's called is absolutely terrible.......

It only gives me options for shutdown and how long to keep the devices on...

I've worked with APCs before and they all seem to have pretty nice software, you can see how many power failures have happened, how the voltage levels have been fluctuating ect ect.

So, i did a bit of research and can't find anything for the Liebert... I have found a couple alternative softwares, but they have all been for APC...

Am i just missing something with the Liebert? did i download the wrong one.. or what.
Does anyone know of any alternative software i could use...

I pieced up a RJ45 Intelleslot card for the port in mine (same UPS as yours, been very happy with it). I paid ~25 bucks. This is all I'm seeing on eBay currently.

I then setup Cacti using this post for configuration guidance. Basically you leave this running on a computer nonstop and can log in via a web browser to view stats.

Dude...... you rock!

From what i read... i will be doing this...

One question i have is, do you need the INTELLISLOT SNMP WEBCARD?

Am i able to just hook it up to my server via serial to USB and just remote in?

Or does that software require the SNMP webcard?

I believe you can hook it up via serial.. if you look on their web site they have a link, or google it.

You will need to build a serial cable with a custom pinout but its nothing to fancy...

I beleive the snmp card adds features, but for basic shut down etc the serial cable will do fine

Yeah, you can get shutdown, etc via the serial cable- the software is multilink - I haven't really used it so don't know all it's capabilities.

For the cacti setup you need the snmp card - that gives you voltage, frequency, battery status as well.
