Well, ive been playing FF7 lately on my PC, its an older game for those who dont know, and all the sounds are MIDI's and well, they suck... in fullscreen, the game affects sound throughout my computer, teamspeak, EVERYTHING becomes choppy... and im thinking it might be the midi playback stuff but i have no clue how to go about fixing it :(

any alternatives for me to try out? ideas to fix the choppyness without an alternative?

If you have a sblive or up creatife has a sound font thingy you can use. HUGE difference over the MS one if you find a good sound font bank.
 
Don't know if you can still find it, but the Yamaha XG Synthesizer. I think FFVII for the PC even came with it.
 
Yeah, the Yamaha XG is awesome. Compared to even the SoundFont or the PS1 game, the XG mode offers the best audio quality. However, it lacks the vocals for the "One-Winged Angel" track though.
