gonna build a conroe system...after reading all problems with evga 680i board ..Whats some popular alternatives?Or should take my chances with evga board? Thanks bye
I just wasted space posting nearly the same. I'm really new at this but I have some ideas I've been considering. I was just wondering if you could give up some more about your set-up since that could determine what might be a good match (eg. if you're not going SLI, some of the intel-chip mobos might be a good candidate - just based on my reading of course). Still, more details might help the better-informed (than I) inform you better.
Here's an article I was reading that might help get you started.
At this point I think you only have two alternatives.
The ASUS P5N32-E SLI and the Striker Extreme. The P5N32-E SLI is the one I'd recommend of course. The Striker has a lot of uneccessary features like the LCD Post screen, and stuff like that. Basically, nothing you couldn't live with out. The P5N32-E SLI should also be closer in price to the eVGA 680i. The Striker Extreme is too damned expensive.
imo you should consider the EVGA 680i more - the problems anyone describes is incredibly limited (and any SATA ones were fixed with the latest BIOS. Personally, I have had 0 issues with mine (including SATA pre-bios update and I have 4 SATA drives) and have had nothing but the most enjoyable OCing and stability I have seen in a while.
Just a thought The asus ones do just fine as well.
Cause I was looking to set up a raid 01 in my system but wasn't sure whether to get the p5n32-e or the evga =/
but if they fixed the raid issues with the latest bios I'll definitely get the evga for more overclocking headroom, not to mention the lifetime warranty and 24/7 support =D
