Anyone know of any type of lighting other than cathodes or led fans? I just got two white cold cathodes for my rig but they emit a very annoying buzzing sound when turned on. Is there anything else that can light up my whole case white?
 
There is something wrong with your inverter. Cathodes definately are NOT supposed to emit buzzing sounds.
 
Be a G and mount this in your case.

You can't loose with QUAD bulbs.

the inverters are definately defective or they are super cheap. What brand?? otherwise send them in for a replacement.
 
I just used the one that came with this and I added one 4" white cathode as an option. I have them both hooked up to the same inverter. I've been looking around and no one seems to sell any decent replacement inverters. Anyone know where I can get one?
 
Although their selection is lousy, I usually shop here for my cathodes. Buy one of the cheaper ones like khanable said. Well, buy one that you like at least, and you can swap em or have a spare.
 
What about voltage ratings? The inverter that I have is rated for 680v, and sunbeam's website cautions against using other inverters because they could short out. Should I try and find one that's 680v, or will anything do and sunbeam just doesn't want me buying competitor's products? :rolleyes:

:confused:. People have been using flourecent lighting for case modding for years. You mean to say hot-cathode florecent lighting? Those are the ones that you can cook eggs on. I have one here thats so damn bright it lights up my entire room, its about 4" tall... Not bad though, 13W and it doesnt get too warm.
 
:confused: Cold cathodes get hot, too. The name does not imply that the lights operate cooler than the traditional hot-cathode fluorescent lights. It describes the non-thermionic way the cathode is used to produce light.
 
So I was looking closer to determine the exact source of the noise the other day, and it seems that it's my 12" cathode that's making the noise, not the inverter. If I move the cable attached to it around, it seems to go away a bit, but I can't get it to go away completely. Does this mean there's a problem with the cathode?
