I want the reliability of fault tolerance if a node goes down whereas the users can still function, even if just slower than when both nodes are up. But I don't want 2 nodes tied back to shared storage like a SAN because if that is down, the users could wind up down.
There is no budget for a SAN and Windows 2008R2 is the OS platform. I'm relatively new to 2008 but I've found this:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/ar...ment-around-replicated-user-profile-data.aspx
which leads me to believe I cannot have 2 nodes doing DFS active/active serving user data and be considered "supported" by Microsoft.
So... are there any tricks you admins have used to achieve something like this?
