The last time I updated Windows (and got .net for a probram) it changed my alt control delete so now insted of just showing my task manager I get Lock Computer, Log Off, etc. How can I change this back to normal?

You can press ctrl-shift-escape to get just the task manager. What version of windows do you use?

Why can't you just hit Task Manager? This also gives you more features. Locking your PC for security, shutting down in case your PC crashes.

If you want to get into Task Manager an easier way, just right click on the task bar and hit Task Manager. Ever try Ctrl Alt Delete before? ;)

I don't need any of the other options and I like it the old way. I am set in my ways and I have been using Alt Ctrl Del since it would reboot dos and I don't want to learn some new control shift escape combination. Dagnabit! Oh yeah, I am running XP Pro.

I don't want the welcome screen turned on either.

Anyone know a reg edit or something to fix this?

I could right click but I like using alt control delete. Thanks for trying to help but can someone help me fix this with out suggesting other ways to access the task manager?

the welcome screen is in control panel under "user accounts". you can configure if you want classic, xp style, or none.. .you can require ctrl+alt+del, or have the password box up alredy, or have it automatically log you on...

Maybe with .NET in place, thats the way it should be, to make it "Safer".

Uninstall .NET

check out tweak UI for windows xp...do a search on microsoft.com for PowerToys and it will come up. That will definately let you handle the welcome screen. dont' know about your other issue. but it lets you change sooo much stuff with a gui rather than messing with all kinds of reg keys and it was written by microsoft, and they know for sure where those damn keys are located...I haven't had any problems with it and i love all the stuff it lets me do with so much ease.
