I have an old Gateway ALR 7200 Dual PIII 450 that is utilized as my home server. I don't turn it on much because every time I do, the temp of the room that it is in goes up by at least 10 degrees, if not more.

What can I do in order to not have it heat up like it does when its on. I would like to keep it on all the time since it has all my music and videos along with it serving as basic rendering machine

Can you underclock it? Undervolting helps alot.

Take out as many cards/accessories that you don't need in it.

Consider getting a more efficient PSU. A 500w PSU with a good efficiency rating will produce less heat than a 250w PSU with an equal efficiency rating if your system is using over 200w of power (unlikely).

Move your case into a different room or vent the exhaust out a window or something.
