Step-by-step guide based on Ubuntu 6.10, very detailed instructions. Should have you SMP-Folding in about a half-hour, not counting download time. :)

I should mention:
Ubuntu 6.10 doesn't like my Lenovo (freezes on every boot), so I'm downloading both Mandriva Live and OpenSUSE 10.2 Live discs right now. Hopefully one of them will let me run FAH without any hard drive intervention.
 
I prefer to login to a console rather then run the gui with a console window.... Not sure about a native install (cuz I'm such a linux n00b and have no clue how to check) but under VMware smp folding inside the gui uses about 200mb more ram (per VM, i'm running 2)
