Hello

I'm really troubled with the many choices of display monitors out there. I've been all around but as soon as i figure that this monitor would be perfect it ends up with a lots of flaws, which leaves me at bottum again

Currently my top contender for choice of display is the HP ZR24w, with lots of positive reviews it seems like a great choice and seems like the one with the fewest downsides, however people tend to say it suffers from lot of ghosting and slow response time which i really like to avoid since i enjoy a play of counter-strike once in a while, as well as other FPS and RPG games. I really love to play RPG Games :)

However, the new 120Hz screen also speaks to me. The mildly positive reviewed Asus VG236H seems like a good purchase for the gamer, however it sacrifises alot of the great image quality, from what i hear atleast.
And the BenQ xl2410t also looks very interesting with all its features, but i have been unable to find any reviews other than a very few user comments that doesnt explain it that well
U2311H, Asus VW246H, Samsung P24-50/70H and several BenQ monitors has also been considered.

The use of the display must fit pretty well allround, I like the watch movies, play games and do school work (so plenty of text editing). Im by no means a photographer so accurate colors might not be so important but i do sure appreciate a beautiful image so great black and vibrant colors are of course what i seek.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, then it would be greatly appreciated

Oh and by the way full HD and between 22"-24" is a must. Budget may be around 450-550$

Hey Labze
I am a bit in the same problem as you, although I do not seek a screen for games, but eitherway my heart is nearly set for the Samsung F2380MX, but lacks a bit testing, but user reports sounds good and looks like it have a nice low input lag.
Used myself a PVA panel in my old teenage gaming days without noticing any problems with ghosting (Samsung 193p+).

Thanks for that Aslund
I have heart great things about that samsung, or well the F2380 (not MX, dont know the difference). But as far as i know its a VA panel inside, and from what i heard VA panels suffer much from ghosting and high response times. Wouldn't this also be noticeably on this display?

**Side question : Since my FPS days might be over . Would a bit of ghosting and what so ever make a huge difference in RPG games such as WoW, Fallout, mass effect and games like that? My last LCD was BenQ v2400W i think it was called, where i didn't notice any problems including in counter-strike

I am in no position to answer that since I have 0% experience with either TN or IPS when it comes to gaming. Maybe the ghosting depends what you are used to because I had a period of 4-5 years where I regularly played games and was among the best online fps players in my class, but never once I felt let down by my 193p+.
Again, it may be an individual thing.

Thanks aslund i guess your right, about it being an individual thing.

To be honest i never really gamed on a CRT monitor, except when being at LAN partys where i just tried them out.

So been during some more research on the following monitors

VE278Q
And VW266H

The VE278Q really seems like a strong contender, with great picture, deeps blacks and low response time and ghosting it seems like what i am going after. Hopefully some person can come in here saying its a great monitor and recommend it based on my needs.

So i think i might be down to two choices, unless someone spoils it and gives me another great recommendation

Asus VE278Q
BenQ XL2410T

So which one should i get for my needs?

BenQ's XL2410T would be a great choice... I believe it's one of the first in the market to include 120hz + LED backlit + 3D NIVIDIA on TN panels. The monitor is designed in with an adjustable stand which is also interchangeable between landscape and portrait mode. The monitor also features picture by picture mode where you can watch a movie while doing work or while playing games or whatever. I think the best part about this monitor is it's stand because it has an extremely sturdy stand that won't allow the monitor to sway or wobble, especially while you're playing an intense FPS match. Everything else is pretty standard to what you'll need in a gaming monitor now adays too.

Btw, I don't know why you were matching the XL2410T with the Asus VE278Q.... The Asus isn't 120hz... it's just a big display... The XL2410T would be a better solid choice over the Asus...

You may also check out the BL2400PT, it has pretty much similar specs to the EW2420, which carries 3000:1 native contrast ratio, has beautiful blacks and deep depth and does it by using P-VA panel instead of traditional TN panels. This also provides the monitor with much superior viewing angles.
