Here is the system setup.

Host:
OS- Win7 x64
VPN- Cisco VPN Client 5.0.7 x64 Beta

Running VMware Server 2.0.

I know before people we doing this the other way around, but I could never get it to work worth a dam. Now that Cisco Finally gave in and is going to create a 64bit VPN client, I think its time to revisit getting this setup correctly.

Basically my boss and our programmer want to be able to do is connect to our work VPN on their laptops, Which is configured with VMware server 2.0 running windows VMs. Which then use the hosts VPN connection to access work.

Everyone says NAT works for this, but if I use NAT the VMs take 30+ min to boot and don't have any network access. This is the case on the 4 different PCs I have tired this on.

Now from what I understand is that you create a loopback adapter, then use ICS to share the Cisco VPN adapter with the loopback adapter. This issue here is that if I share the VPN adapter when I try to make a VPN connection the VPN adapter fails to start.

I'm also wondering if switching from VMware server to workstation would make this alot easier. I've been fighting with them for months about how they should/shouldn't be doing this. Atleast after 3 years I finally got them to virtualize the 5 desktops they had they were always on but used maybe 5 hours a month.

So I installed VMware workstation and it just works with NAT. I am thinking its an issue with VMware server not being 100% compatible with Win7.
