For some reason all my text is rectangular boxes.I can't remember what I did to cause this.

The text in my terminal window is fine. But the title bar for my terminal window is all boxes

Here's a screenshot of my desktop:

Does anyone know how to get it back to regular text?

I think this has something to do with pango.

Here's an output of some pango warnings:

sys:1: PangoWarning: pango_shape called with bad font, expect ugly output

sys:1: PangoWarning: pango_font_get_glyph_extents called with bad font, expect ugly output

sys:1: PangoWarning: pango_font_get_font_map called with bad font, expect ugly output

sys:1: PangoWarning: _pango_cairo_font_map_get_renderer: assertion `PANGO_IS_CAIRO_FONT_MAP (fontmap)' failed

sys:1: PangoWarning: _pango_cairo_font_install called with bad font, expect ugly output

sys:1: PangoWarning: pango_font_get_metrics called with bad font, expect ugly output

Here's my pango modules file:

jfyeh - Just an FYI, I'm having the EXACT same issue as you. I'm about at the end of my rope in troubleshooting. Whatever it is, a complete system rebuild doesn't help. My last resort was to bump from FC4 to FC6, and it still didn't help. I tried 100 other things before this.

Interestingly enough, my problem started as a MTRR problem originally, and this is now where I'm stuck. Under Gnome 2.10 running FC4, I couldn't even get into Gnome far enough to get the ugly font errors we are getting. The MTRR problem was fixed long ago, but somewhere in the middle, I created this monster.

I'm kinda Linux nub who has dabbled plenty of times - I date back to the DOS 2.1 days - but only serious with Linux enough to be dangerous usually.

So, if you manage to fix your problem, please post! I've lost enough hairs over this already.
