All of a sudden after a restart all my taksbar icons have disappeared. Restarts and log off then logging back in doesn't help. The programs still run but there are no icons for them in the taskbar. And when I right click on the taskbar and go to where you would normallly click to hide icons, the option is greyed out. Any ideas? This is on XP Pro. Thanks

Edit - It's not a virus or trojan because I have real time scanners for that (NAV Corp and TDS-3)

Right-click any blank portion of your taskbar.
Click on Properties from the menu.
The Taskbar Properties box will appear. On the Taskbar Options tab, check the "Auto hide" box.
Hit the Apply button at the bottom right.

Reverse this procedure or check your settings. It sounds like this.

I should have been more specific, only the icons by the clock arent showing up. The start bar, clock, quick launch icons all show up.

Exactly. The "taskbar". So I assume you checked the settings I described....?

Do they show up if you hold your mouse over the area for a few seconds?

That hid every thing, start bar taskbar, clock everything. Right now that is not checked and everything is up except the taskbar icons which should be by the clock. When that is checked it hides eberything.
It didn't solve my problem. So it's unchecked now and the icons are still gone.

Is the "Customize" button next to hide inactive icons available for you? If so, click it and see the list of available icons. You can select which ones show up always, etc from there. LMK.

The customize icon is greyed out. Im thinking I may have messed something up after messing around in TweakUI...

I think you did it in TweakUI. There are several options to use there... Under "Taskbar and Start Menu" check the "Show taskbar notification icons". I think that will do it...

Yep it was a Tweak UI problem. A stupid USB error kept popping up so I had it hide noticifcation icons or something like that...so ofc it hid all icons wtf?? neways I just set it back to default and everything is good.
Thanks for the help
