If you haven't noticed yet... on the hit show "24" on Fox, they have silver Alienware computers hidden in. They don't make it so obvious that it is indeed Alienware. The first time I saw it in one of the episodes, I saw the last four letters, "ware" on the back of the laptop, and the design overall resembled Alienware.

BUT!

The thing is, the ONLY PEOPLE seen using the Alienware laptops, are people portraying terrorists, and never any of the "good guys".

I saw it flat out saying Alienware on a later episode, where the guy-changing-the-trigger-on-a-stolen-nuke-so-they-could-fire-at-America's laptop said Alienware on it CLEARLY. Also silver. The Alienware silver laptop has appeared three times, all by different users, all different lap-tops (as in not owned by same person) but still the silver alienware, and ALL terrorist owned.

So is Alienware sending a message?

"Alienware, the choice of the terrorist!"

Edit: Sorry for many mis-spellings, or un-needed or lack of punctuation, and other grammical erros in my post, I don't feel right in the head right now, can't think straight after 4 straight tests, then running track for 4 hours in the cold freezing rain after school, lasting a total of 13 hours of my day!

dont watch the show, but I could see alienwares fitting the edgy stylin' terrorist type.

Such a good show , yea I noticed that too when they were in the garage programming the warhead. It didn't look like a firmilliar model to me when I went on the site after the show tho...

I always find it funny when I see this type of product placement. The terrorists using Alienware after getting out of thier Ford truck (the shows main sponsor). Things like this just make me laugh.

or we could all just ignore the product placement and take the show for what it is supposed to be entertainment! yay!

Alienware laptops open up sockets faster than any other brand.

if anything, terrorists would use the panasonic tough book. its reinforced and can be droped from a pretty good height. the marines use them and so do sway units. they look all bulky and have rubber corners all over the place.

I thought I was the only one that noticed hehe.. Here are some screen captures from the episode:

Maybe it is a writer's/setdesigner's idea of a joke. Most TV shows and movies put MACs in them. So maybe this some half-harted attempt at a jab at MS.

But then again...does it matter?

I believe this thread was a joke?

I know that my post about Lex Luthor was.

Settle down :D

And the good guys at CTU all use DELLs LOL... I even saw a Inspiron 700m somewhere on the show "24"... Love the show, even if there is way too much product placement. ;)

This thread isn't a joke.. The Alienware laptop did apear on 24... CTU uses HP LCD's.. not sure what model...

A bunch of geeks noticed sometime last year that the "bad guys" use x86 machines, while Jack and the rest of the people trying to save the world use Macs. I haven't really watched the show though, so its all third-hand from me.

Wow, shocked I saw this. Thought about making a thread of it myself but never did.

Yea it is such an awsome show, every season of it. Thanks to my new HTPC I thought I noticed the ware text, paused, rewinded, and sure enough there it was. Told a few people that I saw it too.

Macs are naturally for good guys...underdog and what not. Besides, when you need to upload a virus written in human computer code to an alien mothership, are you gonna depend on Dell or Alienware? For reals.

Is that a reference to Independence day when they send a virus to the mothership? What laptop they use in that movie? I couldn't tell.

Yeah I noticed this season, they didn't have that "non-commercial break full-hour episode" thing. Where they would play this long-ass Ford commercial, then show the entire show without stopping... it makes more realistic since time still passes even during commercials, yet the characters don't do anything... i.e. in an intense situation / about to shoot somebody, they would cut to commercial, then you wait like 5 minutes, and 5 mintues later, it's in the same spot. Realisticaly, they would be in different positions, and probably in mid-conversation, judging by all the talking they do.

P.S: That president guy that pulled Jack out while trying to get Marwan is a stupid idiot... so I'm happy though that I get to see that one black president guy... he's AWESOME! He's so smart and cool, and endorses good car insurance companies during the commercial break!

I never noticed the Dell's. I noticed a Dell screen though, not the computer.

And what was that comment about it can open a socket faster than any other laptop or something? What does that mean? I don't get it.

I think it's an inside joke about how stupid movies/tv shows portray a computer "hacker". It is usually a skinny white guy with ADHD who lives in his apartment with 12 computers surrounding him and says stupid crap.

For instance, I was watching "The Core" earlier today (more like The Crap) and of course they were putting a super awesome team together to save the world. Obviously they needed a "hacker", so ths is where the skinny white guy with ADHD enters. This is what he says, honest to god one of the stupidest scenes ever made in a movie:

"hacker" guy: What languages to you speak?

Some other guy: I speak 5 languages fluently

"hacker" guy: Well, I only speak one, and thats ZERO ONE ZERO ZERO ONE.

Anyway what was this thread about? Oh yeah, 24. I only watched it once where the guy somehow steals a stealth fighter. I mean, how the hell do you just steal an F-117 Nighthawk, one of the most closely guarded weapon systems in the U.S. That was just too cheesy for me.

they use Dell computers in CTU. Last season, the room Miguel chilled in for the first few episodes was filled with Dell servers

Dell -> Good
Alienware -> Bad

More or less :p

Yeah, but that hacker was the dude from Road Trip...so he was sweet nonetheless

didnt he get cancer though, IRL?

Yeah, he got cancer, I believe he has already recovered from it.

Wasn't it testicular?

Testicular, brain, colon, bone, and pancreatic cancer sucks the most!!!

Testicular = no reproduction, could turn away some ladies if you looking for long-term.

brain = extremely low chance of surviving

colon = hurts like hell? I think. Maybe I'm wrong.

bone = Spreads quickly, hard to get rid of. (my grandma has it currently :( )

pancreatic = (I'm guessing) You can't grow anymore and/or your metabolism screws up, and your body is less stable. (I think)

That was good for a laugh, but this thread is a little too off-topic (even if it does reference alienware) for the main forum. Sorry guys.
